Orion Rail removed two sleepers and replaced with new G55 cable management sleepers. We also amended the existing trough route to suit. FoneAlarms then ran a new power cable through the sleepers and trough route to connect power to a new ticket machine.
We had previously installed a new concrete pad with ducting to allow the ticket machine to be installed. We will complete the job with new GRP handrail around the concrete pad and ticket machine.
We arranged to have an RRV (road rail vehicle) on site to do the heavy lifting for us, our track team then dug out the sleeper beds and unclipped the two sleepers to be removed. RRV on tracked via the level crossing taken by us under local control and delivered the new sleepers to the works area whilst removing the old redundant ones.
Track ballast was replaced and repacked using hand tampers and void meters left on site to check for any subsequent voiding.
