Urgent requirement for various positions available now with Orion Rail Construction Services

Orion Rail Construction Services, working in partnership with the Orion Rail Academy, are looking to recruit several ex-forces candidates for ongoing construction works within the rail industry predominantly based in the South East of England. Orion Rail Academy is run by former UK Special Forces (SFSG) Dave Radband and set up to facility ex forces members in the transition back to civilian life by providing you with the training, skills, knowledge, and qualifications to start a career within the ever-expanding rail industry. Initial roles available are the industry standard PTS (Personal Track Safety) operative and skilled PTS operative.

Upon completion of an initial 4 – day course in the Orion Academy, you will immediately enter a further weeklong training course with Orion Rail Construction. This weeklong course will include a multitude of tests to determine fitness and aptitude needed to work on the railway network for Orion Rail Construction Services. In addition to this, you will need to be reliable and punctual, be able to work within a team as well as individually, be willing to learn new skills, communicate clearly and concisely as well as being practically minded and able to perform under pressure.

RECRUIT CRITERIA

  • Must have a UK driving license.
  • Must live within 1 hour of TN12 6PE.
  • Have a good fitness level for manual jobs.
  • Be able to stay overnight & away from home.
  • Be able to work weekends (including nights)
  • Have basic IT skills.
  • English, written and spoken.
  • Understand the phonetic alphabet.

** You will be required to undertake a medical assessment, which is required for the PTS qualification (this includes hearing, sight, and general health checks). We are a drug and alcohol-free industry, and you must be able to pass a Network Rail drug and alcohol screening prior to employment. We will perform Drug & Alcohol screening during the assessment and during your employment with Orion. **

There will be 4 stages to gain employment.

Stage 1 – Phone call interview 

Stage 2 – Interview at Orion head office 

Stage 3 – The Orion Academy

The Orion Academy course lasts for 4 days. It will consist of aptitude and physical testing which will be both indoors and outdoors, where you will be tested mentally and physically along with undertaking life coaching and mindset training to help you through your potential career with Orion.

Stage 4 – The Orion Training

The Orion training course starts immediately after the Orion Academy assessment and lasts for 1 week. Upon successful completion of this training course, you will enter role with Orion Rail.

Full training will be given to achieve the industry standards PTS (Personal Track Safety) qualification which will be delivered during the initial 4-day training course. This allows access to the Network Rail infrastructure and is the minimum required qualification to work on Britain’s Railways. You will also train for DCCR (Direct Current Conductor Rail) this allows you to work in a DC powered track environment and is an add-on to the PTS qualification. Full training to achieve ICI (Industry Common Induction) will also be given which provides a common health and safety induction for rail working.

Here you will also undertake life coaching and mindset training to help you through your potential career with Orion.

You will be Drug and Alcohol tested on this phase of the course.

On successful completion of a 3-month probation period you will be offered CSCS & SSSTS on merit of work ethic.
